MAY event for DX / Club Station interests (06 May 2026)

The DX Club encourages all types of activity on HF frequencies; from 1.8 MHz to 30 MHz and point to point long distance operation is also pursued on the VHF and UHF bands. This is "traditional" Ham radio, and at meetings we discuss working DX, QSL cards, contesting, HF mobile radio, antennas, linear amplifiers and all the many things that go into successful HF operation. Our members are involved in SSB, CW, Slow Scan TV, RTTY and other digital modes.

This will be a Face-to-Face + ZOOM meeting

Our Face-to-Face Meeting will be held at

Denny’s Restaurant, 1804 19th Street NE, Calgary, AB T2E 4Y3

This is our regular location. We have reserved the private function room in the back.

At 12 noon, face-to-face participants will order lunch from the restaurant’s menu. The menu order will pay for the use of our meeting room. Don’t be shy. Come and have lunch and yak with our fellow hams.

CARATELS has become the "fun" section of CARA. In no way is the group restricted to grey hair and retirees. Bomber Command Museum of Canada (BCM) Radio Days (16 May 2026)

The first of this summer's Bomber Command Museum (BCM) of Canada's Radio Days starts May 16, Saturday. This event, starting at 10 AM, will include a Lancaster engine run-up and other aviation displays.

“The Museum on the Air" group will be demonstrating the Lancaster Radio and DMR and will have other World War II radios on display.

BCM (VA6BCM), has plans to install an antenna so QSOs can be made from the museum.

The objective of the “VA6BCM -Museum on the Air group” is to demonstrate and display Aviation radios used during WWII and display the evolution of the technology.

It would be great to add pre-war radio aviation technology if anyone has any ideas.

We will have two exciting days of Rally Racing NW of Invermere BC!

This is the biggest of the three rallies that CARA provides communications for throughout the year. Please note that you do not have to be a CARA member to volunteer for this event. All licensed hams are welcome to register.

For those who like to camp, the folks at Horse Thief Campground have graciously agreed to open their facility for our use for the weekend.

Hotel/Motel rooms will also be available. Details are still TBD.

Take part in another of Bomber Command Museum (BCM) of Canada's Radio Days, in Nanton, Alberta! This event, starting at 10 AM, will include a Lancaster engine run-up and other aviation displays.

“The Museum on the Air" group will be demonstrating the Lancaster Radio and DMR and will have other World War II radios on display.

BCM (VA6BCM), has plans to install an antenna so QSOs can be made from the museum.

The objective of the “VA6BCM -Museum on the Air group” is to demonstrate and display Aviation radios used during WWII and display the evolution of the technology.

It would be great to add pre-war radio aviation technology if anyone has any ideas.
