CARA hosts a day of guest speakers, lecturers, hands on workshops, demonstration, and introductions to new hardware and software in conjunction with CARA's annual flea market.  These are held at the Eastside City Church in SE Calgary - 1320 Abbeydale Dr SE, Calgary..

This year (2024) we have a schedule of two presentations

  • 8:00am - NanoVNA hands-on basics. Calibration, Understanding the Smith Chart, Measure Cable Length, and lots more with Live Demos.  VE6PDS Pat Spencer
  • 9:00 am - Flea Market Starts, no presentation. (Go pick the choice fleas)
  • 10:00 am - Updated APRS Messaging.  Peter Barry, VA6PHB
There has been bad news and good news in the world of APRS messaging in the last year.  The good news is that new systems are in place to send text messages by RF from your APRS radio to cell phones or email.
Learn about the new developments in this service.  They could be life savers when you are off grid.

The Flea Market is Saturday April 13th, 2024 at the Eastside City Church, 1320 Abbeydale Drive SE, Calgary.

If you can't make it in person, these will be hybrid sessions, in person at the East side church and on line through Zoom.  CARA has a new "Owl" interactive camera and speaker system that allows for great participation.
