Peter VA6RPL will bring the comm trailer to the north parking lot of the Calgary Sports Car Club on that day for a multi faceted activity day, starting at 10 AM.

Activities:

A)  Maintenance

  • Fully deploy and set up the comm trailer with all its peripheral equipment
  • Peripheral equipment includes the Yagi beam, generator, diesel heater, electrical heaters, tent, guy ropes,
  • Do any maintenance that can be done e.g. clean and lube the pneumatic mast, change oil in the genny, paint the hitch, ...
  • Do a ‘show and tell' and an orientation for members and interested parties.
  • Let everyone participate with ‘hands on’, doing set up and pack up

B) Specific Orientation for 'Trailer Captains' and 'Tow Vehicle Operators'
  • Prior to April 19, invites will be sent to CARA members inviting interested radio operators to become “Trailer Captains”, who would be in charge of setting up and packing up the comm trailer at events.
  • The email will include a call to those with larger vehicles who could tow the trailer.  The trailer weighs around 3000 lbs and comes equipped with electric trailer brakes.  We have a wirless remote controller for the trailer brakes if the tow vehicle does not have an onboard brake cntroller.
  • This list of Trailer Captains and Tow Vehicle Drivers would be what Radio Coordinators would access when they are planning an event and plan to deploy the comm trailer.
  • We should be able to do all the maintenance and orientations between 10 AM that day and when the general meeting starts at 1 PM.
  • Then, the participants could come inside and attend the general meeting.
  • This comm trailer event would happen rain or shine.
  • If the weather is inclement, we have the comm trailer tent to set up for shelter.

I'm hoping we will have a BBQ from noon, with hot dogs, burgers, soft drinks, etc., so we have our tummies full for the general meeting starts at 1 PM MT / 13:00 MT / 21:00 UTC.  Does anyone volunteer to manage the BBQ?  Contact Peter VA6RPL@techworld.ca to manage the BBQ.
