List of Controls:
Bandspread: Good
Volume: Good
Phones: Good
B.F.O: Good
Receive/standby switch: Good
Band selector: Good
Tuning: Good
Note: All knobs and switches were cleaned with De-oxit in August
2023.
Radio performance:
Note: I have not made any modifications myself to this radio other
than cleaning the controls & display.
Clear audio. AC hum audible due to aged capacitors. All original
except that audio filter capacitor on the top of the chassis with
tubes.
Could use some aligning on the HF bands (Bands 2,3,& 4). The AM
broadcast band overall aligned fairly accurately.
List of components:
Capacitors: Still work but should be replaced in the long-term
future.
Tubes: In good shape.
Lightbulbs: Shining nice and bright.
Speaker: No visible damage to the internal speaker of the radio.
Selenium rectifier: Still working normally.
Power cord: Still original power cord. Should be replaced to improve
safety and reduce risk of open-chassis (electric shock). However, the
previous owner made a marker indicating which connector is “neutral”
and “hot”. Which does reduce the possibility of plugging in the power
cord backwards.
Original whip antenna: Did not come with the radio when I acquired
it.
Overall condition of the radio:
Minor scratches and little damage to the outside case. Inside is also
in good shape (including the components). I cleaned the glass display
plate on the front because it was dusty and had a “haze/glare” when
trying to read the numbers. Both inside and outside of the display
were cleaned.
Other Notes:
I printed the alignment/repair sheet for anyone who intends to
realign or replace components in this radio.
